Greek

I am not a Greek scholar. I took a year long Greek I class a few years back through a Fuller Seminary extension course. My teacher said that if you want to get good at Greek, go back to your church and teach it to others. I did and have conducted three classes at my church during which time my Greek improved tremendously. Recently I was asked to teach an extension course for Fuller seminary. I have posted the items I am using in the classes I have taught both in my local church and with the extension class. Please let me know if you notice any errors as these are all still works in progress.

If you are a struggling student, here are two resources I have found of tremendous help:

Basics of Biblical Greek Grammar
William D. Mounce
Zondervan Publishing House, 1994
Grand Rapids, MI 49530

Basics of Biblical Greek: Workbook
William D. Mounce
Zondervan Publishing House, 1994
Grand Rapids, MI 49530

I began learning Greek the traditional way with a 1923 text. After spending a year memorizing paradigm after paradigm, I found Mounce’s approach a real revelation. In addition, During my second year of study the following CD rom came out. It will help you a lot in your ability to speak the Greek you’re reading. I and the students I’ve worked with have found that learning to speak what you’re reading is a real key to becoming fluent. After all, it is a language we’re studying and our brain is designed to process language as sound.
